We all lose muscle and strength, mobility and flexibility as we age – the decline starts some time in our thirties!
For women this is accelerated, post menopause.
Regular weight training will slow this decline and is especially important for women.
I really enjoy what I do at The Achievement Room in Waikanae and I have found the ideal combination to keep me motivated – 1 HIIT Class, 1 personal trainer session, and 1 session of weight lifting on my own following the custom made program designed by my personal trainer Richelle.
Being a small, older female (definitely not a little old lady though!) this year I have managed to significantly increase my strength and muscle mass.
What I like about The Achievement Room is that the staff and the gym members are all really friendly and there is nothing at all intimidating.

Richelle has given me the confidence to work out at the gym.
As a Personal Trainer she develops individualised sessions for me specific to the needs of my completive sports, where she is genuinely invested in me and my progress.
She is a great role model and I always look forward to my sessions with her.

I really enjoy Helens boxing classes, there is heaps of variety and I find myself learning new skill every week. Her experience as a boxer and a coach really show her class style and I love that we are able to have a good laugh too.

Jackie sees the possible and finds a strategy to get you there. She is outgoing but sensitive, positive and fun to train with and totally with out judgement. Jackie has also trained my daughters who love training with her, one for endurance sport and the other for tone and strength.

Jackie is such and out and fun lady. She has gotten me so fit and she is like a second mum to me. If you are looking for the right personal trainer, I recommend Jackie 10000%.

"I’m more flexible, stronger, and healthier having joined The Achievement Room. Physically and emotionally I’m a better lady.
The Achievement Room is more than a gym. A lot of us, who are retired go to the gym because of the friendship that we have made. We have coffee together after some of the classes, and the Christmas parties are great."

I have been using Clay as a personal Trainer for my strength and core conditioning for my cycling events for 4 years.
He has been working with the academy of sport to get the best results for me.
I have full confidence in Clays ability to get the best out of me, both physically and mentally in preparation prior to my events.

We have been working with Clay and his team at the achievement room for over five years and find them to be great team players in clients rehabilitation
They are welcoming and supportive of people of all ages, fitness levels and backgrounds. All the trainers are client focused and eager to learn ways to assist people to work through injuries they may have. They are happy to work with other health professionals to get the best outcomes for their clients and adapt training programmes to suit their needs.
The Achievement room provides a personal and friendly atmosphere to help people achieve their goals and is a great asset to our community.

The Achievement Room is the perfect training ground for me. The Functional training aspect The Achievement Room offers is amazing, in my 36 years of training, I have not experienced this anywhere else. The gym facilities enable me to be creative with my training, have fun, whilst challenging my body and mind. I love the community Clay and his team have established, the support and experience they provide is refreshing and valuable.

Welcoming vibe and awesome coaches that work with all levels of technique and fitness. I love the class timetable, as it’s a great mix of strength and cardio fitness and the coaches are very encouraging, so never feel like I’m training alone.
Carmel Leonard
So much verity in the classes, with many choices given to individuals to work at their own abilities.
Taya Reti
The variety of classes! You never know what’s coming but it’s always challenging.

Love The Achievement Room.
The people, the Hiit classes, the culture, that there is a good mix of free weights, floor space, and weight machines.
It’s a small gym, but there is heaps on offer.

Clay and the personal trainers at The Achievement Room have a holistic approach to health and fitness, and really do cater for all ages and levels of fitness. Three generations of my family are members at the Achievement Room.
We all have different needs and goals, ranging from maintaining a present fitness level of fitness through to competing in national level competitions.
My goals have been to remain competitive in my seventies and with Clays help and motivation I have won three gold medals and two New Zealand records for my age group.
One of the things that sets the Achievement Room apart from other gyms I have trained at, is the way that the personal trainers, will provide unsolicited, feedback, advice and set challenges.
I find Clay very motivating which makes a real difference when in a tough training programme.
Clay also contributes to the wider community and has been very generous in his support of the Kapiti Rotary Club.
The Achievement Room has an inclusive culture that makes everyone feel welcome and valued regardless of abilities or fitness level.
